Slade On Stage

Pristine vinyl with a very smart gloss cover.

Slade on Stage is a live album by the British rock group Slade. It was recorded at Newcastle City Hall on 18 December 1981. It was released 11 December 1982 and reached number 58 in the UK charts.[1]

After Slade's return to the charts and public eye by their performance at the Reading Festival of 1980, the band released two studio albums and gained more commercial success. The band again decided to release a live album. The album was recorded at Newcastle City Hall on the RAK mobile and released in December 1982. The release proved Slade were still a respectable live act. The band could now base their set list upon new anthems such as Rock 'n' Roll Preacher (which replaced their longtime openers Hear Me Calling and Dizzy Mama), plus newer songs like Lock Up Your Daughters, When I'm Dancin' I Ain't Fightin' and 1981 top 10 hit We'll Bring the House Down as well as older hits such as Take Me Bak 'Ome, Everyday, Gudbuy T' Jane and Mama Weer All Crazee Now.

The album was reportedly supposed to be a double live album. Other sources state this idea was cancelled after some tracks were lost because a member of the audience continuously shouted vulgar words into an ambient microphone for roughly half of the set.

During the production of this album, Noddy Holder had stated that "the band were kept so busy, he did not have time for his dinner."
