Parklife (RSD 2024) picture disc

Brand new sealed LP, Album, Record Store Day, Limited Edition, Picture Disc, Reissue, 30th Anniversary Zoetrope Edition

Parklife is the third studio album by the English rock band Blur, released in April 1994 on Food Records. Wedged in between retro and revisionist sits Blur. Wearing the hat of a Ray Davies-type sociologist, Blur's Damon Albarn weaves tales of modern London laced with the suspicion that indeed, the empire HAS ended. Albarn's fascination with urban decay was apparent on Modern Life Is Rubbish, but with the followup Parklife, Blur embraces the modern. The dance rhythms and keyboards in "Girls & Boys" highlight Albarn's cutesy look at romance in the 1990s - not mention other hit singles "End of a Century", "Parklife" and "To the End".

Certified four times platinum in the United Kingdom, in the year following its release the album came to define the emerging Britpop scene, along with the album Definitely Maybe by rivals Oasis. Britpop in turn would form the backbone of the broader Cool Britannia movement. Parklife therefore has attained a cultural significance above and beyond its considerable sales and critical acclaim, cementing its status as a landmark in British rock music.
