Mega rare original New Zealand pressing of the second Avengers album!! Very nice clean vinyl and flapback cover.

This album just oozes competence from start to finish. You get the band's biggest hit first, and the chorus of "Love - Hate - Revenge" will get stuck in your ear whether you like it or not. The opener sets the stage for an astoundingly solid LP, as all the following choruses are catchy, but without leaning to the annoying side. Ballads and midtempo stompers take turns seamlessly. The instrumentation is rich in detail and everything is performed meticulously.

It's rather difficult to name highlights on Medallion, as each tune just seems so solid and well done. Compared to their debut, The Avengers branch out into more psychedelic territory. Perhaps the main criticism here is that this departure does not fully convince, which is not surprising for a band that got assembled through a promoter and can't just give up on commercial appeal. Still, a filler-free psych pop album without pretentious experimentation? Sign me up.
