The Small Faces Collection

Very smart clean vinyl housed in a good cover having 3cm split in centre of spine.

I didn't know the Small Faces before -- apart of "Sha-La-Lee", which I have long loved for its exuberant energy -- and this comp contains most of the hit singles of the 1960s, arranged chronologically, with some B-sides too.

And I've got to say, really, these guys knew how to combine plaintive love songs with wild guitar noises and beautiful organs. Guess one could call it power pop. I love it -- I was a bit afraid of the psychedelic impact on them, but they never lost their edge and style. My faves: The beautiful "Tin Soldier", the unique "Lazy Sunday", the cool groovy "Grow Your Own" instrumental, and the hard-rockin' "Wham Bam Thank You Mam"... but there's not a weak one here. Great listen throughout!

So, if you are looking for an introductory comp about the Small Faces, or a greatest hits collection, this is for you.

I gotta find their albums now.
