A Different Kind of Blues

Stunning copy, 180 gram double album and gatefold cover (still in shrink).

Following hot on the heels of Festival Records' much loved comeback release 'Boogie! Australian Blues, R&B and Heavy Rock from the '70s' comes another double-cd collection of atypical blues. 'A Different Kind of Blues', features 42 blues and blues-derived tracks primarily from the '60s and '70s, and brings to light to broad range of amazing original material that inspires the new generation of blues artists including The Black Keys. Alongside artists R.L.Burnside and Junior Kimbrough - two artists from the last great blues hotspot of the 20th Century, Holly Springs, Mississippi - 'A Different Kind of Blues' includes prime cuts from earlier blues-imbued underground innovators including Captain Beefheart, Dr John, James Luther Dickinson and Funkadelic, as well as recently revered late '60s heavy psychedelic jams from blues originators Muddy Waters and Howling Wolf. There's also a bounty of long overlooked gems from artists including Little Richard (covering Creedence!), early Fleetwood Mac and J.Geils Band, Otis Rush, Albert King and John Hammond, plus a couple of surprises that illustrate the incredible influence of blues in today's popular music.Compiled exclusively for Festival/Warner Music Australia, 'A Different Kind of Blues' was put together by esteemed UK writer/DJ/compilation producer Dean Rudland, best known for his acclaimed work for labels such as Blue Note and BGP/Kent/Ace. Two more titles from Dean - 'Cosmic Country' and 'Heavy Soul' - are being readied for future release on Festival.
